Hand Crafted

Growing up my mom always made our Halloween costumes.  I never had a store bought one.  It was so much fun designing the costume.  I remember drawing it out on paper and imagining it coming to life.  I loved going to the fabric store where stacks of fabric bolts were piled to the ceiling! It seemed like there were endless possibilities of fabrics to choose from.  My mom would sew and put things together until we  (my brother and I) had our very own hand crafted costumes.  One year I was She-ra and my brother was He-man.  Another year my brother was a ninja turtle.  My mom was so creative.  I will try and find some old photos to post if I can.

X-Ray Cookies!

I spent most of my day making these  X-Ray animal cookies for my son to take to a Halloween party.  The cookies are made of everything I can't eat: sugar, flour, butter, the 'good' stuff.  I spent so long hovering over these little creations that I could taste sweet in my mouth and smell sweet in my nostrils several hours after they were gone.  I couldn't resist making them.  The moment I picked up the cookie cutter shapes at Ikea,  I wanted an excuse to use them and have been planning it since september!

I've been studying for my mid-term exam in Visual Culture.  I feel like my brain is overloaded with images, dates, terms... I have another day and a half before the exam and I have no idea how I am going to be prepared for this thing.

It's been too long.

After letting several years pass by since my last post, I thought it was time to resurrect this blog.  It was a nice surprise to find out I don't need to know crazy html anymore.  I think that made me feel limited because I couldn't quite get my blog looking the way I wanted it to.  It's still not great but at least it's a start in the right direction.  Let's see how far I can take this...
